Bulgaria\u2019s Traffic Police are carrying out intensified checks on distracted driving as part of ROADPOL\u2019s Focus on the Road campaign, running from 5 to 11 October 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Interior Ministry confirmed Bulgaria\u2019s participation on 5 October. Officers will focus on conduct that distracts drivers and on unlawful use of mobile devices while driving.<\/p>\n

What drivers need to know<\/h2>\n

Reading messages, choosing music and using apps can divert attention from changing traffic conditions. The ministry is urging drivers to put their phones aside and concentrate on the road.<\/p>\n

As of 6 October, the campaign remains under way and will continue through 11 October. It is a road-safety enforcement initiative, not a notice of a specific road closure or traffic diversion in Veliko Tarnovo.<\/p>\n

ROADPOL\u2019s published 2026 operations plan also lists these dates for Focus on the Road, with an emphasis on mobile phones and other electronic devices that distract drivers.<\/p>\n
