From October 22 to 26, 2026, the historic St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki Church in Veliko Tarnovo welcomes visitors to the indoor 3D mapping show The Boldness of the Tsars. The event is part of the St. Demetrius Day program commemorating 841 years since the uprising of Peter and Asen.<\/p>\n
Screenings run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every 20 minutes. Because of limited space inside the church, organizers admit up to 20 visitors per screening.<\/p>\n
The multimedia program explores key moments of medieval Bulgarian history: the reigns of Khan Krum and Tsar Simeon, the Battle of Belasitsa and the events around 1185 associated with restoring the Bulgarian state. The church is particularly symbolic as it is linked to the proclamation of the uprising led by the brothers Asen and Peter.<\/p>\n
The show itself carries no additional charge, but from October 22 to 25 visitors need a regular museum admission ticket. The ticket also includes a visit to the Church of the Forty Holy Martyrs on the same day. On October 26, St. Demetrius Day, admission to the church and screenings will be completely free.<\/p>\n
The installation was developed by Elektrick.me. The project was initiated by Veliko Tarnovo Municipality with support from the Regional History Museum.<\/p>\n
