NIMH has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain across Bulgaria for Monday, 12 October. The warning also covers Veliko Tarnovo Province.
Expected rainfall is 15–25 litres per square metre, reaching up to 40 litres in some places. As a cold front moves from west to east, rainfall will temporarily be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms.
The wind will turn northwesterly and strengthen, while temperatures will fall. Minimum temperatures will be between 10 and 15°C. Maximum temperatures will stay between 13 and 18°C across most of the country and between 20 and 24°C in eastern areas.
Practical information
If travelling on Monday, check the latest forecast and road conditions immediately before setting off. Heavy rain may cause reduced visibility, aquaplaning and local difficulties on low-lying stretches.
Rain will continue through Monday night into Tuesday. The forecast also indicates wet weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, so check warnings for updates.
