Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026.
This page explains how data is used when you visit 5000.news, contact the editorial team, or use the app and notifications. For questions about personal data, email info@5000.news.
Data controller
5000.news is operated by Rosen Rusev, who is the controller of personal data processed in connection with the website’s activities.
Correspondence address: 10 Edinadeset Street, Mindya, Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, Bulgaria. Email: info@5000.news. Phone: +359 884 165 663.
Purposes and legal bases
Processing technical data necessary to deliver and protect this website is based on our legitimate interest in providing a functioning and secure news service (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We also rely on this basis to handle editorial correspondence, check reports and respond to enquiries, limiting personal data to what is needed in each case.
For optional analytics and technologies used by external content, the proposed legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). OneSignal notifications are a separate voluntary choice. Declining analytics should not prevent you from reading news or making a separate notification choice.
Where we must meet a specific legal obligation, including handling data protection requests, the basis is GDPR Article 6(1)(c). Editorial content is also subject to applicable rules on freedom of expression and information; consent is not the basis for every journalistic publication.
Visiting the website
Delivering pages and maintaining security involves processing technical connection information, such as your IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser and operating system. This information may appear in the hosting service’s technical logs.
Audience statistics
The website uses Google Analytics 4 through Google Site Kit to analyse visits and content use. The service processes information about viewed pages, interactions, traffic sources, browsers and devices. Cookies and identifiers are used depending on the service and browser settings.
For information about Google’s processing, see the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from websites and apps.
Metricool is also used for website statistics. Its tracking code records visits and viewed pages, and the approximate country is determined from the IP address. According to the provider, this code does not use cookies. The absence of cookies does not mean that no technical information is processed. Details: how Metricool website tracking works.
Messages to the editorial team and comments
When you email us, we receive your email address, the name you provide, your message and any attachments. We use this information to review your report, check the facts and respond. Please do not send personal or sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry.
Where comments are enabled on an article, WordPress processes the information entered in the form, the comment, IP address and browser information. A published comment and its displayed name are visible to other readers.
Profile images may use Gravatar through an identifier derived from the email address. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
App and notifications
The 5000.news app is a progressive web app (PWA). Your selected language and news categories are saved in your browser’s local storage. The app may also cache website resources needed for its operation.
Notifications are provided through OneSignal. Receiving them requires permission from your browser or device. To deliver notifications and measure interactions, the service uses a subscription identifier, technical browser and device data, and information about notification interactions. Your selected language and categories are sent to OneSignal to help select relevant news.
You can change your language and categories in “My news” and change notification permission in your browser or device settings. Disabling notifications does not automatically erase data already processed. For questions or erasure requests, email info@5000.news. Details: OneSignal Privacy Policy.
Cookies, local storage and external content
WordPress and services included on this website may use cookies and local storage for sign-in, preferences, analytics and notifications. You can inspect, restrict and delete this data through your browser settings. Clearing local data may remove your language and category preferences.
Articles may include external videos, images or other embedded content. When this content loads, its provider, such as YouTube, may receive technical visit information and use its own cookies. When you follow an external link, the other website’s privacy policy applies.
Service providers and storage
The website uses hosting and email services, Google Analytics, Metricool and OneSignal. Providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Their policies describe processing locations, retention and international transfer arrangements.
Correspondence is kept until the report or enquiry has been resolved. Afterwards, only data still needed to substantiate a publication, defend a legal claim or meet a legal obligation is retained. We consider the continuing relevance of the material, any dispute and applicable legal time limits; unnecessary copies and attachments are removed.
The hosting provider is Hostinger. Technical log retention is determined by the hosting service’s automatic rotation and the need to identify and resolve incidents. Where a specific incident occurs, necessary records may be retained until the investigation or related legal dispute is resolved.
In Google Analytics, event data is retained for 2 months and user data for 14 months. Resetting the user-data retention period on new activity is enabled. These periods do not limit standard aggregated statistical reports, which may be retained for longer.
According to Metricool, its tracker does not store IP addresses and provides anonymous, aggregated data. Aggregated statistics may be retained as an archive for comparing audience trends over time.
Language and category choices remain in local storage until changed or the website data is cleared. Notification subscriptions remain active until the user opts out or revokes permission. OneSignal may retain subscription data after notifications stop until it is erased through the applicable process; contact info@5000.news for erasure requests.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and may object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it. These rights are not unconditional; for example, an erasure request must also be assessed against freedom of expression, the right to information and applicable legal obligations.
To exercise your rights, email info@5000.news and explain which data your request concerns. You may lodge a complaint with the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection or another competent supervisory authority.
Changes
This page will be updated when the services or processing practices change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
