Municipalities in the region must report winter readiness by 30 October
The regional governor is requesting information on snow clearance, equipment, schools, health services and accommodation for stranded people.

Mayors and the responsible institutions in Veliko Tarnovo Region must submit reports on preparations for the 2026–2027 winter season by 30 October. The deadline was set by an order from Regional Governor Marin Bogomilov, the regional administration announced on 20 October.
Municipalities must report their winter-maintenance contracts, available equipment and road-treatment materials. Information is also required on towing stranded lorries and providing accommodation for stranded people.
The reports also cover arrangements at schools and health facilities, continuity of utility and communications services, and available funding. Institutions must describe difficulties encountered last winter and specific measures to prevent them recurring.
The order sets out coordination, early warning and information-sharing arrangements for severe winter conditions. This is seasonal preparation, not an announcement of a current emergency or road closures.
Updated 20 October, 17:40: winter preparations in Gorna Oryahovitsa
The municipal security headquarters discussed snow clearance and winter services. Priority will go to public transport routes and access to emergency medical services, police, fire services, schools and social facilities. Nearly 600 tonnes of road-treatment aggregate have been ordered.
Dolna Oryahovitsa, Draganovo, Parvomaytsi and Polikraishte must arrange equipment contracts by 6 November. The municipality also gives a 10 November deadline for organisational plans by local administrations and contractors. ERP Sever reported 12 emergency repair teams in the municipality.
