Svishtov hosted the university table tennis championship; NSA won both titles

The Vasil Levski National Sports Academy won the men's and women's team titles at the Autumn 2026 National University Table Tennis Championship, held in Svishtov on 22 and 23 October. Teams representing eight Bulgarian universities took part in the two-day competition.

The host was the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, and the event was organized by the Academic University Sports Association. Matches were held in the renovated sports hall of the academy's South Building. The tournament also formed part of the academy's 90th anniversary celebrations; the institution received a commemorative plaque from the sports association.

Women's and men's team standings

Behind the champion National Sports Academy, Sofia University finished second and Plovdiv University third in the women's competition. In the men's event, Plovdiv University took silver, while Shumen University won bronze.

The National Sports Academy team also included Yoan Velichkov, a first-year student specializing in table tennis who won medals at a European junior championship in summer 2026. His participation brought further interest to the university tournament.

Other competing institutions included the Technical University of Sofia, the University of National and World Economy, the Medical University of Varna and additional universities. Hosting the tournament brought student sport together with the Svishtov academy's anniversary year.
