Restrictions on tertiary road III-514 between Gorna Oryahovitsa and Veliko Tarnovo remain in force in late October. According to the Road Infrastructure Agency's published national road bulletin, vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are not allowed on the stretch from kilometre 43+860 to 48+680 because the road is too narrow and crosses difficult terrain.
Cars, passenger vans seating up to 8+1 people and light commercial vehicles weighing no more than 3.5 tonnes may use the road. Heavy goods vehicles must take the signed detour via Lyaskovets and the I-4 road in both directions.
Where the detour runs
Traffic heading from Gorna Oryahovitsa to Veliko Tarnovo is diverted along road II-53 through Lyaskovets to the Lyaskovets junction, then onto road I-4 toward the regional capital. The same route applies in reverse. The bulletin lists December 31, 2026 as the scheduled end date of the restriction.
Separately, on road III-514 within Veliko Tarnovo, traffic travelling towards Gorna Oryahovitsa is restricted between kilometre 48+740 and 49+155, from the area of Dervenya and Ksiliforska streets to the junction with Tsar Ivan Asen II Street. The measure is due to the risk of falling rock and earth.
The detour for that urban section follows Ksiliforska and St. Kliment Ohridski streets. This restriction is also listed as running until the end of 2026. Drivers should follow current traffic signs and on-site directions, as temporary arrangements may change.
