China's Industrial Profit Growth Accelerates to 14.4% in September
New figures highlight the divide between fast-growing electronics manufacturers and struggling traditional industries in China.

Profits at Chinese industrial companies rose 14.4% year-on-year in September 2026, following a 4.2% increase in August. Figures from China's National Bureau of Statistics, reported by Reuters on October 27, show an acceleration overall but wide disparities between industries.
Industrial profits increased 15.5% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2026, broadly in line with the January–August result. This suggests September's strong showing did not erase the uneven performance across sectors.
Electronics grow while other manufacturers lag
According to the figures, profits in computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing more than doubled in the first nine months compared with the same period in 2025. The furniture industry, by contrast, recorded a fall of more than half.
Growth in artificial intelligence-related industries is supported by demand for components, computing capacity and equipment. But the gains are unevenly spread across companies and do not necessarily indicate a broad recovery in domestic consumption.
China's economy expanded 4.5% in the third quarter, according to figures cited by the news agency. The sustainability of technology-product demand, export tensions and trade imbalances will be important issues for international markets in the coming months.
