Svishtov Municipality published a Border Police Directorate warning on 9 October for people and organisations operating unmanned aircraft systems in border areas. The notice is a reminder of the rules already in force; it does not introduce a new blanket flight ban.
Before every flight, operators must check the current prohibited and restricted geographical zones published by the Civil Aviation Administration Directorate, as well as the requirements applying to the specific location. This also covers drones used for agricultural, commercial, recreational and photography purposes.
Border Police says that operating a drone does not grant permission to record or distribute information without authorisation about its sites, facilities, equipment and activities when access or disclosure is legally restricted. The Directorate says it has technical detection and countermeasure capabilities and may act to terminate an unauthorised or threatening flight.
A practical pre-flight check can start with the Civil Aviation Administration’s official unmanned aircraft portal. The municipal notice also points to the interactive Drone Map Bulgaria as an additional visual source based on aviation-authority data.
