There will be no regular lessons on the Monday after the presidential election, but schools will organise activities for pupils, the Education Ministry said.

Monday, 26 October 2026, has been designated a day without regular lessons, but with school attendance, for pupils in Bulgaria. The decision was made by the Ministry of Education and Science and is set out in Order No. RD09-4152 of 9 October. This means that regular lessons following the usual timetable will not take place, but the day has not been declared a school holiday.
The reason is the presidential election held on 25 October. Some school buildings are used as polling stations, and time is needed to prepare classrooms for lessons to resume.
The ministry says schools should organise activities for pupils so that parents can leave their children at school. Teachers will adjust the teaching schedule for individual subjects. Families should check their school's information for the specific arrangements.
