The Veliko Tarnovo environmental inspectorate has decided that a full environmental impact assessment is not required for Pilko EOOD's proposal to increase a broiler farm's capacity in Varzulitsa to 111,500 places. Decision VT-32-PR/2026 is dated 5 October and concerns a site in Polski Trambesh municipality.
The inspectorate imposes mandatory conditions. These include initiating an integrated permit procedure with the Executive Environment Agency and preparing and implementing an odour management plan, including for cleaning the sheds and transporting manure litter.
Other requirements cover preventing wastewater overflows, arranging transport to a treatment plant under contract and keeping records. Unauthorised manure storage is prohibited, and transfers must ensure lawful storage and use without risks to water resources.
The document is a decision in an environmental procedure and does not in itself establish that the expansion has begun or been completed. It explicitly preserves the developer's other statutory obligations.
The decision provides for an appeal within 14 days of notification to interested parties. That period does not automatically run from the date of this article.
