Taxi services in Veliko Tarnovo will be discussed at an open meeting today, 27 October, at noon in the municipality's New Hall. The meeting was initiated by Municipal Council Chair Ventsislav Spiridonov, who has invited councillors and representatives of taxi operators.
The discussion follows proposals for new minimum and maximum taxi fares in 2027 and complaints from residents about service quality and availability. Participants are expected to address both drivers' and operators' costs and passengers' needs.
Among the questions raised is why taxis are difficult to find in the evenings, at weekends and on public holidays. The organiser also wants solutions for people with disabilities, for whom reliable transport is especially important.
The invitation aims to hear both sides before a decision on fares is taken. As of the morning of 27 October, this remains a planned discussion, not an approved fare increase.
