Lyaskovets mayor requests roundabout near road maintenance depot

Lyaskovets Mayor Vasil Hristov has written to the Road Infrastructure Agency about traffic problems at the partial cloverleaf interchange on the route from Lyaskovets towards Elena. According to information published on 23 October, he wants the construction of a roundabout near the road maintenance depot to be considered.

The mayor says crashes and traffic jams occur on the stretch. Congestion is particularly heavy at the end of shifts at the Arcus factory, when queues sometimes extend back to the main Sofia–Varna road.

Hristov believes a roundabout could reduce conflict points and lower speeds through the junction. RegNews reports that a temporary layout could be trialled before any permanent arrangement is considered.

For now this is a proposal to the Road Infrastructure Agency, not an approved construction project. No budget, contractor or construction timetable has been announced. The next step depends on the agency's assessment and decision.
