Online portal for medical residents to launch on 2 November

A new online portal for medical residents is expected to launch on 2 November 2026, bringing together information about available training places, selection procedures and educational opportunities. Bulgaria's Ministry of Health announced the plans on 30 October following Minister Katya Ivkova's meeting with students and resident doctors at the Medical University of Varna.

What information will the portal provide?

According to the ministry, the service is part of the National Health Information System. It is designed to list available residency positions in clinical specialties, the relevant selection procedures, training opportunities in non-clinical fields and dentistry, as well as schedules for theoretical instruction and fees set by universities.

The aim is to offer applicants a single starting point instead of making them search for information across numerous separate websites and announcements.

Digital training records planned for 2027

A second module, the resident doctor's electronic training record, is planned for early 2027. It is intended to track grades, course modules and training requirements. The ministry says feedback from young doctors will be considered as the system is developed.

It is important to distinguish an announced launch date from a service that is already operational: as of 31 October, the planned start on 2 November is still in the future. The Ministry of Health's official channels should be used to check access and current requirements.
