Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Istanbul on 31 October 2026 for talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The visit was reported by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), while its agenda had been confirmed in advance by the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications.

According to Ankara, the two leaders are expected to discuss further bilateral cooperation, regional and international developments, the Russia–Ukraine war and security in the Black Sea.

Black Sea security is particularly important for Bulgaria too, given maritime transport, trade and shared regional risks. Türkiye controls access through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles, while Ukraine is among the key Black Sea states.

The official Turkish statement dated 30 October outlines the planned discussion topics but does not report results or agreements. Any such outcomes must await announcements after the meeting.
