A series of reported threats to passenger aircraft prompted security checks and changes to flight operations in several European countries on 3 November 2026 Sofia Airport was among the locations affected.

According to information from BTA citing Bulgaria’s Border Police the alerts concerning flights arriving from Bergamo and Dublin, were received in a single email. This clarification matters because early international reports gave differing information about the origin of one of the aircraft. Bulgarian authorities carried out the necessary checks following the alerts.

In Poland, a LOT flight from London was diverted to Modlin Airport near Warsaw, which briefly suspended operations during the inspection. An SAS flight from Copenhagen landed as scheduled at Warsaw's main airport. Polish authorities found no dangerous device during those checks, Reuters reported.

An alert also concerned an aircraft arriving from Manchester in the Murcia region of Spain. Local authorities reported that the threat proved to be a false alarm after inspection. Separately, on 2 November a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest following a reported threat.

There is currently no basis to describe the separate alerts as conclusively linked. Aviation and police authorities may provide further updates.
