November 2026 brings several noteworthy skywatching events: the two Taurid meteor showers, the Leonids and a full supermoon. NASA published its monthly skywatching guide on 2 November.
The Southern Taurids peak around 5 November and the Northern Taurids around 12 November. Both showers usually produce relatively few meteors, but occasional especially bright streaks can appear.
For the Leonids, NASA recommends the early morning hours of 17 and 18 November, after moonset. Ideal conditions could bring around 15 meteors per hour, though most people will see fewer. A dark location, clear skies and time for the eyes to adjust are essential.
Before sunrise on 15 and 16 November, Mars and Jupiter will appear about 1.2 degrees apart in the sky. A full supermoon is expected on 24 November, the first in a series of three. Actual visibility in Bulgaria will depend on clouds and local conditions.
