Exhibition honours philanthropist Atanas Hadzhislavchev in Pavlikeni

Pavlikeni. The History Museum is presenting the photographic and documentary exhibition “Generosity and Foresight: The Elder's Legacy”, marking the 170th anniversary of the birth of Atanas Hadzhislavchev. The exhibition opened on October 26, and on October 28 RegNews reported on its presentation and the messages it offers visitors.

The exhibition brings together archival photographs, documents and accounts of Hadzhislavchev's civic activities. They trace his contribution to Pavlikeni's development, his support for local education, culture and sport, and his philanthropic initiatives.

According to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), he was born on October 5, 1856, in Veliko Tarnovo and settled in Pavlikeni in March 1878. He spent the following decades in the town, raising a family and establishing a farm there.

At the opening, Pavlikeni Deputy Mayor Engineer Albena Petrova highlighted the importance of preserving local historical memory. The new exhibition invites visitors to see the town's history not only through its institutions and buildings, but also through the people who helped it develop.
