Sarafkina House, Prison Museum and Trapezitsa to close from 4 to 11 November

Three museum sites in Veliko Tarnovo will be closed to visitors from 4 through 11 November 2026, inclusive. The Regional History Museum announced the temporary closures on 28 October.

The closures affect the Sarafkina House Museum, the Prison Museum and the Trapezitsa Architectural and Museum Reserve. The museum says the sites need to be closed so annual maintenance and urgent repairs can be carried out safely.

The announcement matters to visitors to the city as well as local schools and tour organisers. Trips and educational visits to these three sites should be planned around the announced closure dates.

The restriction applies only to the three named sites — it does not mean that all museum exhibitions in Veliko Tarnovo are closed. Visitors can consult the museum's official website for opening times at other sites and any further updates.
