The Veliko Tarnovo Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry has launched a road-safety campaign under the slogan 'Life Is Priceless'. According to information released on 23 October, it aims to reduce traffic violations and serious road crashes in the region.

Patrol cars are travelling on major roads in the region with their warning lights continuously on to increase the visibility of the police presence. More patrols are planned on busy routes and at locations where serious crashes are concentrated.

Checks will focus on speed limits, right of way, following distances, vehicle readiness for winter driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Drone-assisted operations and checks using unmarked police vehicles are also planned.

Drivers will receive information leaflets encouraging responsible behaviour. Young people from the Bulgarian Red Cross and children's police units may also take part in some events when weather conditions permit. The campaign focuses on prevention and safer roads.
