Svishtov Municipality announced on 2 November that construction work has begun on three projects to renovate community cultural centres in the villages of Balgarsko Slivovo, Morava and Dragomirovo. The total value of the investments is €2,224,119.69, the municipal press office said. The funds have been specifically allocated under Bulgaria's State Budget Act.

How the funding is distributed

The largest investment — €1,048,148.36 — is earmarked for the Vazrazhdane community cultural centre in Balgarsko Slivovo. The project includes thermal insulation, replacement windows, heating and ventilation systems, solar panels and an accessible restroom.

The allocation for the Svetlina – 1911 community cultural centre in Morava is €664,679.45. Plans include roof repairs and insulation, facade renovation, new windows, climate-control and ventilation systems, and accessibility improvements.

Renovation of the Prosveta – 1912 community cultural centre in Dragomirovo is budgeted at €511,291.88. The work includes roof and facade insulation, replacement doors and windows, LED lighting, and improved access for people with disabilities.

From project plans to construction work

The municipality had already announced funding for the individual centres in late October. What is new in the 2 November announcement is the coordinated start of renovation work on all three projects. This distinction matters: the amounts do not represent three additional grants on top of the funding announced earlier.

Mayor Gencho Genchev linked the timing, immediately after Bulgaria's Day of the National Enlighteners, to the importance of community cultural centres in smaller settlements. According to the municipality, similar buildings have been renovated in recent years in Vardim, Oresh, Tsarevets, Ovcha Mogila and Kozlovets.
