A total of 43 of the 49 prosecutors on the voter list in Veliko Tarnovo voted on 24 October to elect representatives from the prosecutors' quota to the new Supreme Judicial Council. The information was given to the Bulgarian News Agency by the head of the local election commission, Ilian Blagoev, and published by Borba.
Voting at the local polling station took place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. According to the commission, the process was trouble-free and no invalid ballots were found when the ballot box was opened and checked.
The polling station had 98 ballot papers, 43 of which were used. The count included checks of stamps and the permitted number of marks on each ballot. Video monitoring of the count worked normally.
Among votes cast in Veliko Tarnovo, Dimitar Leshtakov received 31, followed by Ivaylo Iliev with 17, Vladimir Nikolov with 16 and Radoslav Gradev with 12. These are local figures and do not by themselves determine the final national results.
Representatives from the professional quota are elected by prosecutors across the country. If the required national turnout is not reached or not enough representatives are elected, the process provides for voting to continue on Sunday, according to the local commission.
