Renovation begins at pedestrian underpass near Veliko Tarnovo mall

Veliko Tarnovo. Renovation has begun on the pedestrian underpass in the Kolyo Ficheto neighborhood, near Mall Veliko Tarnovo. The underpass runs beneath Magistralna and Oborishte streets and forms part of the pedestrian links in this busy area.

According to local news outlet RegNews, citing the municipality, the first operation is hydroblasting — using very high-pressure water to clean areas where old plaster is loose or flaking. This is intended to prepare the base for subsequent repair layers rather than simply covering up the damaged surface.

The next steps include treating the structure, applying a bonded waterproofing material and a new multilayer finish to the ceiling. Repairing the steps is also part of the project. The works are financed through Veliko Tarnovo Municipality's investment programme.

As of publication, no verified completion date or comprehensive notice of temporary pedestrian restrictions was available. Pedestrians should follow on-site signage and any temporary arrangements.
