More than 380 new heating appliances have already been installed to replace old stoves across Veliko Tarnovo Municipality. The Bulgarian News Agency reported the figures on 28 October 2026. Applications for the cleaner-air programme remain open.

The replacements form part of the municipal project “For Cleaner Air!”, which aims to reduce pollution from household heating with wood and coal. Old appliances are removed, while approved households receive cleaner heating systems according to an agreed schedule.

The project is financed through the Environment Programme 2021–2027. The municipality previously said that up to 2,351 households could benefit, but this is the planned scope, not the number of completed replacements. The latest figure counts appliances, not individual households.

Residents who still heat their homes with solid-fuel appliances can review the programme's eligibility conditions and find out whether they can apply. Requirements, technical options and installation schedules should be checked directly with the municipal administration.
