Svishtov marked Bulgaria’s National Awakeners Day with performances by the First Bulgarian Choir “Yanko Mustakov”, children’s recitals and a flower-laying ceremony. The event took place on 30 October 2026 at the Donors’ Monument, two days ahead of the 1 November holiday.

Pupils and officials paid tribute to Bulgaria’s educators

Children from Kalina Malina Kindergarten and second-graders from Nikolay Katranov Secondary School performed songs and poems. Teachers, representatives of cultural and educational institutions, and local residents attended.

Deputy Mayor Dr Aneliya Dimitrova highlighted Svishtov’s contribution to Bulgarian education and culture, including the traditions of the local choir and philanthropy. Wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument at the close of the ceremony.

The commemorative programme continues

The local celebrations do not end with the ceremony. According to the published schedule, a research and practical conference on the life and work of Bishop Filip Stanislavov is planned for 18:00 on 31 October at Filip Stanislavov Community Centre in Oresh, with a performance by the Abagar vocal quartet. Organisers note that the programme may change.
