New balneological assessment of mineral water from borehole R-4hg in Svishtov
Assessment No. 316 describes the composition and potential uses of mineral water from borehole R-4hg near the Danube. The municipality released the findings on October 29.

Svishtov Municipality announced on October 29 that balneological assessment No. 316 had been issued for mineral water from borehole R-4hg in the local deposit. The document describes the water's physicochemical composition and potential uses under specified conditions. The facility is located near the Danube River, approximately two kilometres east of the town centre.
What the data show
According to the municipality, the water's total mineral content is 1,787 mg/l. It is classified as highly mineralised, chloride-sulphate, sodium-calcium-magnesium water. The reported technical measurements include a temperature of 41.5°C and a flow rate of 52 litres per second during testing. These figures should not automatically be interpreted as measurements of the current flow rate.
The announcement states that the tested microbiological and radiological indicators fall within the applicable limits for mineral waters. The assessment describes possible balneological uses, but does not in itself mean that the water is suitable for unsupervised treatment or drinking without specific guidance. Therapeutic use requires an individual evaluation by a medical professional.
Two different boreholes
Borehole R-4hg, covered by the new assessment, is not the same as borehole R-1hg in western Svishtov. Earlier this week, the municipality said it was investigating the causes of a decline in the latter's flow rate. Findings about one borehole do not establish a change in the condition of the other.
The municipality regards mineral water as a potential resource for developing balneological services and local tourism. Public use, however, depends on technical, sanitary and organisational requirements.
