A new arts and community space called AC² is preparing to open in Veliko Tarnovo on 6, 7 and 8 November 2026. It will occupy a floor of the former Poltava cinema building and is designed as a venue for cultural events and gatherings.

The initiative was created by Tsveta Karaivanova and Martin Durchev, the Bulgarian News Agency reports, quoting project team member Georgi Bachvarov. The name AC² comes from American College Arcus Club and reflects its connection with the American College Arcus.

The new centre plans exhibitions, theatre and film screenings, concerts and other opportunities for creative exchange. Curators Ilina Peneva and Adriana Hristova will shape its artistic programme, with themes expected to change from season to season.

The choice of the former cinema is deliberate. The building is part of Veliko Tarnovo's cultural memory, and its transformation offers an opportunity to host public events there once again. As early as June, the Veliko Tarnovo Regional Administration announced plans to convert part of Poltava into a contemporary cultural centre.

The organisers have announced the opening dates, but the verified announcements do not yet specify a detailed timetable or admission arrangements. Visitors should check these details with the AC² team before attending.
