The overturned cargo vessel Horiv has entered Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea and is drifting without a crew. Bulgarian National Television reported the situation on October 28, citing the competent maritime authorities.
The vessel was spotted on October 27 at approximately 9 p.m., around 13 nautical miles east of Cape Sivriburun. According to the information released, it was drifting south under the influence of currents and weather conditions.
A navigational warning has been issued because the uncontrolled vessel poses a risk to other ships. Maritime authorities are tracking its position and movement.
Additional surveillance measures, including naval assets, have been discussed. At the time of the report, these measures should not be described as completed without subsequent official confirmation.
Entering an exclusive economic zone is not the same as entering territorial waters: the former does not, by itself, mean that the vessel has reached Bulgaria's coastline.
