The Comprehensive Oncology Centre in Veliko Tarnovo has received a donation worth more than EUR 60,000, including specialist beds and 10 pallets of medical consumables. The initiative involved Professor Svilen Maslyankov and Rotary Club Veliko Tarnovo, regional media outlet RegNews reported on October 23.

The equipment arrived at the medical facility on October 22. According to the report, Professor Maslyankov, local Rotary Club president Lora Dencheva and club representatives handed the donation over to the centre director, Dr Ivan Nikolov.

Professor Valentin Dzhonov, a Bulgarian scientist and doctor whose career has taken him to Switzerland, also contributed to the initiative. Cooperation between the two medical professionals helped secure the donation, while Rotary Club Veliko Tarnovo assisted with organisation and transport.

The donation will help equip the oncology centre. The publicly reported information does not specify how each item will be allocated among the departments. Such initiatives provide valuable additional resources to healthcare facilities, although they do not replace the need for sustainable funding of medical services.
